MNADV Rejects the AHCA

MNADV, along with hundreds of organizations and individuals, has signed on to a letter by NNEDV rejecting the American Healthcare Act (AHCA).

On May 4, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA), which repeals the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and puts victims of domestic violence at grave risk. The AHCA would put health care coverage out of reach for countless victims of violence and jeopardize their health and safety.

Victims of domestic and sexual violence need access to health care. Gutting protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions, limiting Medicaid, and forcing victims to suffer for the effects of abuse is unacceptable. Health care is vital part of a survivor’s safety and recovery.

Now that the House has passed the bill, it moves to the U.S. Senate.
