MNADV will hold its 37th Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 26, 2016 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Annapolis.

MNADV, along with hundreds of organizations and individuals, has signed on to a letter by NNEDV rejecting the American Healthcare Act (AHCA).

Each year, MNADV requests feedback on the top training and technical assistance needs of our comprehensive domestic violence services providers. This feedback helps determine MNADV’s top training priorities and helps identify areas where we can assist programs with technical assistance.

Twenty-two Maryland local domestic violence programs participated in the 24-hour survey, which documented the life-saving services offered by these programs as well as a significant number of unmet requests for help.  

We are very pleased with the outcome of this year’s Maryland General Assembly Session.  We are proud of the collaborative work we do with members, advocates, partners, allies, and legislators to ensure these outcomes.  We are particularly appreciative of the advocates who worked on the bills and testified at hearings.

This week, the National Domestic Violence Hotline and LoveIsRespect released their 2016 State Reports, showing the number of calls, texts, and chats they received about domestic violence.

The Maryland Healthy Working Families Act would allow employees to earn up to 7 days of paid sick leave per year and specifically requires employers to allow survivors of domestic abuse or sexual assault to use paid sick leave to care for their health after these incidents or seek legal protections or new housing.

MNADV, along with our sister coalitions and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), condemn ICE’s actions, and warns that the implications could be deadly for victims of domestic violence who are undocumented and fear reporting abuse.
